Swimming’s Eric Kramer honoured with Coach Dedication Award

With a coaching career that spans 40 years and multiple provinces, Eric Kramer started making an impact in swimming Saskatchewan in 2015.

Head coach of the Laser Swim Team in Saskatoon and a 2020 Paralympic Para swimming coach, Kramer is one of four Saskatchewan-based coaches honoured with a 2020 Saskatchewan Sport Award in Coach Dedication. Kramer was nominated by Swim Saskatchewan.

Since becoming the head coach of the Laser Swim Team in Saskatoon, the club has seen a 30 per cent growth in membership and has created the biggest and only Para Learn To Swim program in the country. The Para program had 30 members in 2020 including five classified swimmers. Attracting Para swimmers from across the country to train in Saskatchewan, Kramer has also coached at the World Para Swimming Championship in London in 2019, helping Canada to 14 medals and qualification for the Tokyo Paralympics in many swim categories.

Among numerous honours from Swim Saskatchewan, Kramer has also been honoured with a Coaching Association of Canada Petro-Canada Coaching Excellence Award in 2020 and was inducted into the Quebec Swimming Sports Hall of Fame.

Each day this week, two recipients from the six long-serving volunteers and the four dedicated and decorated coaches honoured as recipients of the 2020 Saskatchewan Sport Awards will be featured through tribute videos on Sask Sport and the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan’s website and social media channels.
