It’s about that time Saskatchewan, so please join us in saying “Thanks Coach!”
In support of the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan and National Coaches Week, the Government of Saskatchewan proclaimed September 14 to 20, 2026 as Coaches Week in the province.

This week-long event celebrates the dedication coaches have to their role and promotes the positive impact they have on athletes and communities. With many coaches operating as volunteers and committing on average more than 120 hours each year to Canadian sport, the week also provides a simple way to say thank you to these integral leaders. The Coaches Association of Canada coined the term “Thanks Coach” to show appreciation.
“This week we’re celebrating the coaches who have inspired, supported or made a difference in our lives,” Minister of Parks, Culture and Sport Alana Ross said. “From instilling teamwork, resilience, confidence and leadership to helping athletes reach their potential, coaches help shape skills that last a lifetime. Coaching requires dedication, commitment, and a genuine desire to support others. So, if you’re attending a practice or game this week, take a moment and say Thanks Coach!”
Today, more than 20,000 trained coaches work with registered participants in Saskatchewan on different local teams, clubs and leagues. Across Canada, more than 1.8 million Canadians have received coach training and one in seven Canadians will coach at some point in their lives.
“As a longtime coach, I’ve come to realize that sport will give you more than what you’ll ever have to give in return,” said Andrea Wolf, Chair of the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan. “Coaches across the province selflessly dedicate their time to bettering communities and ensuring opportunities within sport are available. They know sport is more than wins and losses and their effort to ensure athletes continue to benefit through sport does not go unnoticed. Thanks Coach!”
