Olympic Wrap Up

The Tokyo Summer Olympics have come to an end. Here’s what happened with Saskatchewan coaches Lisa Borgerson, Mary Carroll and Lisa Thomaidis during the Games.

Attending her second straight Games, Borgerson accompanied Canada’s lone shooting athlete, Lynda Kiejko, who finished 47th in the 10-metre air pistol qualification round and 42nd in the 25-m air pistol qualification.

Carroll, who competed at the 1992 Barcelona Games as a diver, made her Olympic coaching debut alongside athlete Rylan Wiens who competed in the men’s 10-metre platform event. Wiens finished the preliminary round in 19th place, just .10 points away from qualifying for semifinals.

This was the third Olympics for Lisa Thomaidis and her second as head coach of the Canadian women’s basketball team. Canada went 1-2 in the round robin —defeating the Republic of Korea 74-53, but losing to Serbia 72-68 and Spain 76-66— and did not qualify for quarter-finals.
