The Coaches Association of Saskatchewan (CAS) is pleased to introduce David Robertson as the new Executive Director for the organization.
A 15-year coaching veteran at the club, provincial and national level, Robertson began with CAS this week. Robertson will also fulfill the role of Manager of Coaching Development with Sask Sport Inc.
“We are thrilled to have Dave Robertson join the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan,” said Doug Hillis, Chair of the CAS Board of Directors. “Dave brings a wealth of coaching, training and mentoring knowledge that will help our association enhance programming and services for Saskatchewan coaches. He is passionate about coaching and the critical role that coaches play in an athlete’s development.”
A national team athlete until 2002, Robertson began his coaching career with the Wascana Racing Canoe Club in Regina before moving to Gainesville, Ga., to become the head coach of the Lanier Canoe and Kayak Club. Since returning to Canada in 2008, Robertson has helped develop some of Saskatchewan and Canada’s top canoe and kayak athletes.
He has worked as the high-performance coach for the Wascana Racing Canoe Club, as well as held developmental coaching roles for both men’s and women’s programs for Canoe Kayak Canada. He was also the Senior Men’s Kayak Coach and assisted the Canadian Canoe-Kayak Canada sport science team with race analysis at the 2012 London Olympics. Most recently, Robertson was the Executive Director of Canoe Kayak Saskatchewan.
“I’m excited to join the Coaches Association of Saskatchewan and look forward to working with provincial and national partners to support the ongoing delivery of effective coaching programs in Saskatchewan,” said Robertson.
Robertson is also a certified learning facilitator and coach evaluator for community- to competition development-level courses. He holds a NCCP Advanced Coaching Diploma through the Canadian Sport Centre Saskatchewan.
