In partnership with the Coaching Association of Canada, Coaches Association of Saskatchewan is pleased to announce that Prince Albert’s Madison Garchinski (softball) and Saskatoon’s Taylor McGregor (athletics) were selected to the 2025 Canada Games Women in Coaching Apprenticeship Program.
The 2024 Women in Coaching Games Apprenticeship Program was developed by the Provincial/Territorial Coaching Representatives (PTCRs), the Canada Games Council (CGC) and the Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) to expand the opportunities available to women and Indigenous Peoples within coaching.
The program’s objectives consist of providing female apprentice coaches with national multi-sport games exposure, enhancing their professional development and helping prepare them for higher level coaching.
Each province and territory can select two coaches to attend the 2025 Canada Summer Games, which will be held in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador in August. Alongside 24 other coaches, Garchinski and McGregor will gain valuable experiences in an apprenticeship role and have direct involvement in the Games’ preparation and competition. Furthermore, the pair will receive support from an identified mentor coach throughout the duration of the Games.
