The theme for the 2021 Petro-Canada Sport Leadership sportif conference (November 3-5) is Let’s Reignite Sport. For sport to return better and stronger than before, we must maintain a people-first approach to wellness, apply inclusive practices, and develop sustainable, innovative business strategies. Through a series of engaging keynote presentations and breakout sessions, delegates will be encouraged to celebrate the successes, grieve the hardships, and develop the wisdom needed to continue this inspiring transformation in the face of disruption.
Session topics will include:
- Tactical decision-making for coaches
- Strategies to encourage Indigenous participation in sport
- Creating a growth mindset within your organization or team
- Providing inclusive spaces for para athletes
The conference includes access to a packed schedule of speakers and sessions. Delegates will be able to view recordings of most sessions in the virtual event space for 30 days after the conference. The Indigenous Coaches and Officials Program (ICOP) will support up to 20 coaches to attend this conference (a $90 value).
Who is Eligible to Apply?
To be eligible to apply, coaches must fit the following criteria:
- A resident of Saskatchewan
- Be of Indigenous ancestry (Status First Nations, Non-Status First Nations, or Métis);
- Be actively coaching and committed to coach in the long term;
- Have had experience coaching competitive teams or athletes;
